WE CARE Initiatives & Grants

The WE CARE Fund is a part of the Nassau Bar Foundation Inc., the charitable arm of the Nassau County Bar Association. It was founded in 1988 by then Bar Association President Stephen Gassman. WE CARE is supported through donations and fundraising efforts of the legal profession and the community-at-large. The money is disbursed through charitable grants to improve the quality of life for children, the elderly, and others in need throughout Nassau County. For further information about WE CARE grants, call Stephanie Pagano at (516) 747-4070, ext. 230 or contact via email at [email protected].

Other Notable WE CARE Events from 2018

Dressed to a Tea “On Broadway”, March 2018
Dressed to a Tea “On Broadway” featured a delicious buffet dinner and a fashion show, with Nassau County Court Personnel modeling the latest fashions provided by Lord & Taylor. The Raffle Room offered an extensive variety of exciting prizes, including, of course, tea pots! Donations of clothing from NCBA judges and attorneys and the community were collected and donated to local organizations, including The Prom Boutique, The INN, Bethany House, Eastern Farmworkers, and Educational & Assistance Corporation.

WE CARE Golf & Tennis Classic, July 2018
The WE CARE Golf & Tennis Classic brought the legal and business community together for a day of golf and tennis at two of Nassau County’s premier golf clubs, followed by a gala dinner honoring prominent friends of WE CARE. The Classic is WE CARE’s major fundraiser of the year, and thanks to the generosity of attendees and sponsors, provides much of the funding for our grants and programs.

Mets vs. Yankees, August 2018/ Long Island Nets, November 2018
Proceeds from the Mets game helped to send 100 deserving children to the Long Island Nets game at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Night of Las Vegas Style Entertainment, October 2018

Gingerbread University, December 2018
Children of all ages decorate their own gingerbread houses. Upon successful completion of the course “curriculum,” which includes having fun, graduating students receive the highly desirable Degree in Gingerbreadology diploma. The proceeds are used to fund the many worthy projects of WE CARE, especially those servicing children.

Members of WE CARE also participated in community events, such as Rebuilding Together, Light the Night Walk for LLS, and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk.
